Modern science is often understood as an objective, neutral, and universal system of knowledge. However, this view has been critically challenged in contemporary philosophy of science, which emphasizes that scientific knowledge is shaped by social, cultural, and power relations. This article aims to analyze critiques of positivism and to explain science as a social construction by relating it to the local wisdom of the Sabu Raijua community. This study employs a qualitative approach with a philosophical–social design through a literature review of scholarly works published over the last ten years. The findings indicate that the positivist paradigm has limitations in understanding local knowledge systems rooted in custom, collective experience, and cosmology. The local wisdom of Sabu Raijua is shown to constitute a legitimate and meaningful system of knowledge within its socio-ecological context. Viewing science as a social construction enables an epistemic dialogue between modern science and local knowledge, contributing to a more contextual, inclusive, and epistemically just approach to knowledge production
