Keywords:
Pragmatism, Christian Religious Education, Biblical worldview, Truth, Contextual learningAbstract
This article examines pragmatism in Christian Religious Education and critically evaluates it from a biblical perspective. The study employs a qualitative approach with a library research method by reviewing literature related to pragmatism, philosophy of education, Christian education, and biblical worldview. The findings indicate that pragmatism offers significant pedagogical contributions, particularly in promoting active, reflective, contextual, and experience-based learning. However, pragmatism cannot be fully accepted as the philosophical foundation of Christian Religious Education because it tends to place practical usefulness as the primary measure of truth. From a biblical perspective, Christian Religious Education must remain grounded in Scripture as the normative source of truth. Therefore, Christian Religious Education should adopt a critical and selective stance by utilizing the pedagogical strengths of pragmatism while maintaining its bibliocentric and Christocentric foundation
